Kos Counseling is a strengths-based practice that exists to recognize and celebrate the beautiful things that make you who you are. Kos Counseling is a body-positive, health at every size, intersectional feminist, gender and sexuality affirming and actively anti-racist practice.
What is Kos?
Kos is Norwegian for warmth, light, coziness, and connection
You need a place to be able to be yourself, let your guard down, and experience connection. The ability to heal and grow is dependent on having that safe space. It is very important to me as your therapist to create a space of connection and acceptance so that you can do the work needed in therapy.
Kos is a concept that comes from Norwegian culture, and is closely associated with other Scandinavian cultural practices like the more recently popularized idea of “hygge”. As a white-bodied person of Norwegian heritage, I have been working on reconnecting with the cultural practices of my ancestors. As we begin the therapeutic process, may you be embraced by the warmth and connection that is Kos.
